| Rehman demands inquiry into shoot out at Mendhar | | | Jammu May 24 Sehikh Abdul Rehman, State President Samajwadi Party (SP), accompanied by State Secretary, Ram Singh Chouhan, visited GMC Hospital here this morning to inquire about the welfare of Jugal Manhas, SDPO Mendhar and his driver, who were seriously injured in a an militant attack at Mendhar yesterday and later shifted here for specialized treatment. Later, both the leaders also called on IGP Dr Vaid and expressed their grave concern over the alleged militant attack on SDOP and his driver in the brought day light. ‘Apprehending deep rooted conspiracy to eliminate Jugal Manhas, Rehman said that the officer besides being an award holder for rendering distinguished service, has been posted in Mendhar for the last three years where he earned his name for being a dedicated and honest officer. The attack taking place in the broad day light and that too in the busy market of Mendhar town strengthens the doubt about the conspiracy behind the incident; Rehman added and demanded an inquiry to ascertain the truth. The SP leader has urged the IGP to take appropriate steps to save the life of Manhas and his driver by shifting them to New Delhi or Chandigarh for specialized treatment. While appreciating the concern of the SP leaders, the IGP told them that arrangements are being made to shift the injured by air to Delhi. In the meanwhile, Secretary General of SP Ram Parkash Sharma in a separate statement has condemned the attack on the Police officer and demanded deployment of adequate security forces to border town Mendhar. He also ridiculed the PDP leaders including Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and his daughter for unnecessarily harping on demilitarization.
