MIER celebrates 79th foundation day

Jammu, Dec 17: Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER), on Wednesday celebrated its 79th foundation day. On this occasion, vibrant function was organized by the institute at campus. The chief guest on the occasion was Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation Engineer Kiran Wattal.
The chief guest paid homage to the founders of MIER late Prof. HL Gupta and Prof. Shanti Gupta by laying floral wreaths at their portrait. He also unfurled the flag of the institute.
Chairman MIER and noted educationist Dr. Arun K. Gupta expressed gratitude to the public and parents for giving full support to MIER for seventy nine years in the achievement of educational objectives. He said that the affiliation of Model Academy up to 10+2 level by the CBSE, New Delhi had opened up new vistas for students in Jammu city, while the grant of autonomous status to MIER College by the University of Jammu was a unique honour.
Earlier, a cultural programme was presented by the students of Humming Buds, both branches of Model Academy and MIER College of Education. The cultural Programme commenced with Guru Vandana in order to eulogies the greatness of a teacher which mesmerized the audience. The little angels of Humming Buds presented attractive dance numbers entitled 'Going on a Trip' and 'The Planet song'. The school students presented a play highlighting religious tolerance entitled 'Anekta mein Ekta', 'Cheraw' bamboo dance, 'Bhag Milkha Bhag' dedicated to internationally acclaimed Indian Sports persons and a ballet dance performance 'Go Green' based on environmental theme were awe inspiring.
While, Kiran Wattal lauded the role of MIER in spreading quality education and for producing enlightened citizens equipped with the necessary skills to assume leadership role in all walks of life. He also lauded the efforts of the students and teachers in the organization of cultural programme and winning top prizes in several curricular areas. He also requested the large audience to observe one minute silence in the memory of the innocent children who were killed in the terrorist attack in Peshawar, Pakistan a day before.
Among other luminaries who graced the occasion were Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Dr. Renu Gupta, Dr. Adit Gupta, Dr. Ankur Gupta, S.K. Sharma, the members of the Board of Directors, high-ranking officials, social activists, prominent citizens and large number of parents of the students of various wings of the institute.
