| JKAACL announces 43rd annual art awards | | | Jammu | May 24 Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today announced annual awards for 43rd Annual State Art Exhibition-2006. In artist category award, N.D. Jamwal and M. A. Mehboob have been declared joint winners for their work ‘Saptak” (oil on Canvas) and Colour of the Heart (Oil on Canvas) respectively. The Sculpture award has been shared by Mohammed Iqbal for his work “Eclips” and Vikas Khajuria for his work “Inmates” while Camlin award has been given to Mohammed Akram Khan for his work “The Moon of Karva Chouth” (Oil on Canvas). Seven certificates of Merit have also been awarded among seven participants. They included Rohit Verma for his work the Pond (Oil On Canvas), Bhushan Kesar for his work “Snow Storm”, Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma for his work “Lady Behind the Curtain, Subhas Lenghey for his work “The yard of my childhood”, Masood Naqashbandhi for “The echo of Devastation”, Brahma Pal for “Ajanta Elora” and Brij Paul Anand for “A Curb between flower. In students category, Urubashi Thakur for “Infinity”, Tanveer Ajsi for ‘Conversation” and Aneesh, Mehbooba Akhter and Insha Manzoor won the certificates of merit. According to Cultural Officer O.P Sharma awards will be presented to winners at Srinagar next month.
