Pahalwan Birju was adjudged as the best wrestler in the “33rd Roun Domel Kesari Title -2007.The Vishal Dangal was conducted by Thill Roun-Domel Dangal committee under the aegis of J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association
Birju of Delhi thrashed Pahalwan Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak of Punjab in two minutes tough bout and lifted the best Malli. He was also awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 10000 in addition to Silver Gurj and Patta. The runner up Pahalwan was given cash prize of Rs. 7000.
About 27 bouts were played in the annual Vishal Dangal. The 2nd main bout of the said contest was won by Gurvinder Singh of Amritsar in which he defeated Virender Malik of Delhi. In the 3rd bout, the match between Qasim Deen and Vinod Pahalwan was drawn. Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA was the chief guest on the occasion while Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over. Among others, SSP K Ganesh, Deputy Commandant K Giri, and SM Devedi also witnessed the wrestling bouts.
Speaking on this occasion, Sharma said that such events are imperative for physical fitness, besides providing source of entertainment to the spectators especially in rural areas.
