| Crime branch registers case against revenue officials | | | JAMMU | MAY 24 Crime Branch has registered a case against the revenue officials of Srinagar under section 420, 468, 471 RPC for cheating a person by selling a piece of land to him with the help of fake documents. According to reports, Crime Branch received a complaint from one Ali Mohammad Hafiz, son of Hafizullah of Natipora, Srinagar alleging therein that one Naib Tehsildar Chankara Singh has fraudulently sold a piece of land measuring 3 kanals and 5 marlas situated at Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar to him in connivance with Patwari Nissar Ahmad. Both the individuals were alleged to have provided the complainant a fake and fictitious record of the aforesaid land and thereby were succeeded in grabbing the hard earned money of the complainant. The matter was initially enquired into through preliminary enquiry held by Crime Branch. Enquiries made into the matter have revealed that the suspect namely Chankara Singh, son of Janak Singh of Rambagh Balla has sold a piece of land measuring one kanal and 9 marlas falling under Khasra NO’s 1326/581 and 1329/581 situated at Mehjoor Nagar. The said land stands transferred in the name of complainant. Crime Branch enquiry also transpired that the said suspect also sold land measuring one kanal and 16 marlas under Khasra No 580 and 581 and obtained an amount of Rs. 5 lacs from the complainant. An Iqrar Nama (an agreement deed) with regard to the said land was also executed. In the mean time when the complainant approached to the Revenue authorities for ascertaining the factual position of land in the Revenue records, he found that the land falling under Khasra No. 580 does not belong to the suspect. The said land belongs to some of his relatives. This way the suspect has cheated the complainant by selling a piece of land which does not belong to him and has prepared a fake document in this regard. The act of omission and commission prima-facie discloses offences punishable under section 420, 468 and 471 RPC. Crime Branch registered a case into the matter for holding in-depth investigation.
