| Samajwadi Party looking for poll alliance | | | Jammu May 25 State unit of the Samajwadi Party (SP) today said it was looking for like-minded political parties so that it can enter into poll alliance with one or more of them. As political activities in the state have geared up and elections appear round the corner President stae unit SP and former Member Parliament, Sheikh Abdul Rehman today said that the party was ready for the general elections. Rehman said, ‘The party will field its candidates half of the total number of seats in J&K while for remaining seats, the party was on look out for the parties with the same ideologies like SP has. Launching attack on the ruling coalition, he said, “The present government has failed on all the fronts. It has not right to remain in power. Now, it is better for Azad government to recommend for the dissolution of the state assembly and hold fresh elections as early as possible.” “Because there are clear indications of differences between the coalition partners, there is no unanimity among then on major issues. Also there is no visible development on the ground despite the increased flow of funds from the centre,” he added. In reply to a question on credibility of People Conference president Sajjad lone’s demand of trifurcation, he said; “ How can a person with the gun in hands can talk of the serious topic like trifurcation openly. Is there no body to ask him? Who is he to talk on like this sensitive issue? It raises question mark on the credibility of the State Government”. Answering a question on the militant attack on SDPO Mendhar Jugal Manhas, he replied, “It seems that there is a deep rooted conspiracy behind the attack, which took place in front of SDPO office and after indiscriminate firing from the attackers there was no retaliation from the police officials present. We demand a proper enquiry from the government, by an officer up to the rank of IGP
