Jammu,May 25 The State Accountability committee has recommended to the Government dismissal of Khursheed Ahmed Naqeeb, Managing Director J&K Tourism Development Corporation (JKTDC) non charge of misuse and abuse of his official position. The Commission comprising, Justice (Retd) G.L.Raina and member Justice (Retd) Muzaffar Jan, gave its verdict on a complaint filed by Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed against Naqeeb. The commission observed that by misusing his official position Naqeenb had spent crores of rupees on renovation of Chashma Shahi huts in Srinagar and on D-Block of Tourist Reception Centre in Jammu without seeking prior approval by the members of the Board of Directors. The commission said that the Managing Director made purchases on exorbitant rates of computers and television sets without inviting tenders and without constituting a purchase committee. He had failed to follow the guidelines thereby causing wrongful loss to the Corporation. It was further alleged that a shop in the Tourist Reception Centre in Jammu was allotted to ‘Pahalwan Di Hatti’ without executing a formal rent agreement with the result ‘Pahalwan Di Hatti’ proved a defaulter as he did not pay rent. The rent arrears could not be recovered from the Hatti because of non-execution of rent agreement which caused loss of revenue to the state. The Commission also held guilty Naqeeb, as Manager Projects, of recruiting number of favourite candidates including Shazia Khan, daughter of a former J&K Bank Chairman, Mohd Yusuf Khan. The Commission, after having taken cognizance of these omissions and commissions of the officer has recommended to the state Government the dismissal of Naqeeb.
