| Cambrian patrol competition | | |
Jammu, 25 May 2007 The Cambrian Patrol is one of the most challenging professional event conducted by the British Army at Wales in United Kingdom. Teams from various countries including those from NATO Armies participate. The event involves an exacting endurance, reconnaissance and surveillance exercise. An Indian team has been participating in the event since 2005. The Cambrian Patrol originated in 1959 as a long distance march for Welsh Territorial Army Units and was held annually. The event aims to test the physical and mental endurance of a military patrol and their operational capability in different environments.
The Northern Command competition for Cambrian Patrol was conducted from 14 to 22 May 07 in Himachal Pradesh. Maj Gen Rajinder Singh, GOC Dah Division gave away the prizes to the winners. 4 Garhwal Rifles stood first, 17 Rajputana Rifles second and 16 Rajputana Rifles stood third in the competition said a PIB (Defence Wing) release.
