| "Peace, development my formula for prosperous J&K": Azad | | | Jammu, May 25 - "I have come to Jammu and Kashmir with a mission to develop it and restore peace", said Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday seeking whole-hearted support from public and unblemished performance by the administration. Addressing interaction meetings of district, tehsil and block officers of Kathua, Samba and Jammu in two separate meetings held at Jammu and Kathua, Mr. Azad impressed upon block, tehsil and district level officers to re-double their efforts to accomplish works well in time and expend funds judiciously. "A positive attitudinal change and inculcation of desire to deliver with missionary zeal is sine-quo-non for achieving desired goals", Chief Minister maintained and said that personal interest in implementation of projects should be the guiding force to ensure delivery of benefits. He said that the time has provided us an opportunity to progress, as such, exemplary performance by administration at all levels is a must. Functionaries at all levels are equally important in the development process therefore it is important that everyone of us perform optimally. He said that government functionaries' rapport with public is imperative to formulate and successfully implement area specific development projects, address grievances and ensure people's participation in the process of development. Chief Minister said, two hour public hearing everyday by officers at block, tehsil and district levels would be made mandatory. He said city and village committees to monitor works would also be put in place. Mr. Azad said that multi-pronged strategy to address political, social and economic issues has been adopted, the success of which depends on managerial capacity and personal dynamism of administration, he added. Chief Minister said that improvement in Indo-Pak relations, initiating CBMs, opening up of routes across LoC and holding of roundtable conferences are some significant achievements made to restore peace and accelerate development. He said that in order to address development needs of people landmark decision of creation of eight new districts, three sub-divisions and 12 tehsils was taken. "We have gone much ahead of the recommendations of Wazir Commission to accommodate the aspirations of the people across the state", he said. Referring to the varied topography and diverse geo-climatic conditions of the state, Mr. Azad said that the difficult geographical condition and the vagaries of weather in the state have made the task of administration more challenging. Mr. Azad said that Jammu and Kashmir is on the threshold of unprecedented progress and the state and central governments are working in chose coordination to ensure faster development.
