| Goswami for augmenting Radio, TV service in J&K | | | Srinagar, May 25 A meeting of high level officers of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Jammu and Kashmir State Information Department was chaired here today by the Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Information Department Mr. Anil Goswami. The meeting discussed modalities for augmenting, Radio and TV services in Jammu and Kashmir State especially in border and remote hilly areas. The meeting decided that Ministry of Information and Broadcasting would constitute a committee of experts to be also represented by Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir, Jammu and Directors Police Telecommunication J&K to take measures to strengthen the Radio and TV services in Jammu and Kashmir. Matters pertaining to acquisition of land, identification of shadow areas, recruitment of local youth, etc. were also discussed in the meeting, besides installation of more HPTs and LPTs in shadow areas. The meeting decided that two pilot projects for Tral and Gurez areas would be formulated to strengthen the FM transmission and make it popular by providing 1000 Radio transistors to the interested people in each area. Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Information Department Mr. Anil Goswami while addressing the meeting highlighted the importance of broad banding the Radio, TV and FM transmission system in the state by installation of more HPTs, LPTs, VLPTs so that entire population of the state is covered under Prasar Bhariti Broadcasting and Telecasting Network. He said that local youth should be provided employment opportunities in the new coming up stations. The Chief Engineer representing Director General All India Radio Mr. R. K. Singh presented a resume of arrangements and action plan of Prasar Bharati taken to augment its services in the state. Among others Directors of Doordarshan Kendra, Srinagar and Jammu, Radio Kashmir Srinagar and Jammu, Information Department were also present in the meeting.
