| POLICE ANNOUNCES CASH REWARD OF RS 5 LAKH FOR PROVIDING CLUES ABOUT SALAHUDDIN, LeT COMMANDER | | | Srinagar,June 30 : Announcing a cash reward of rupees five lakh (INR) for those who will provide information about the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander, Salah-ud-Din alias Bilal–allegedly the kingpin behind the attack carried out on Youth Congress rally here on May 21–the Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that it has arrested twelve LeT men who had "assisted in the attack plan". Unconfirmed reports, however, said Salah-ud-Din was killed in the Bandipore encounter. Four persons including a top Army commander Lt Col V K Chauhan of 15 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), two militants and an unidentified body, said to be that of the house owner, where the militants had taken refuge in were killed. JK Police today claimed to have cracked a LeT module and with it worked out an attack on the Youth Congress rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Park on May 21–which left eight persons including two 'fidayeen' killed while critically wounding the then IGP Kashmir Range K Rajendra Kumar, and several recent grenade attacks here. Director General of Police, Gopal Sharma said that twelve people bearing allegiance to LeT outfit have been arrested by the Police and "more arrests are expected on their disclosures". Addressing a press conference here this morning Mr Sharma claimed that the arrest of 12 LeT persons was a "major breakthrough in investigation of the fidayeen attack on Congress rally". "J&K Police has been able to unmask the entire conspiracy behind the incident which resulted in the death of several innocent civilians and injury to many including Police Chief of Kashmir Province K Rajendra," he said. Police said that two Pakistani militants who "conducted the suicidal attack were assisted by arrested LeT men". "These militants (arrested LeT men) not only organized weapons and the uniform for the two Pakistani militants who conducted the suicidal attack but also organized their shelter and other logistics," Sharma said. The arrested men are: Mohammad Yusuf Dagga alias Tahir and Farhat; Waseem Raja Zargar alias Kashif; Javed Ahmed Sofi alias Qasim; Mohammad Yaqub Zargar; Bilal Ahmad Mir alias Master; Ajaz Ahmad Hakeem, Naseer Ahmad Fazili, Reyaz Ahmad Wani, Shabir Ahmad Wani, Javed Ahmad Shah and Mohammad Yaqub Sheikh alias Tausif.
