| 5120 persons covered under Project Assist by NFCH | | | Srinagar, August 08 –Under Project Assist sponsored by National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) 5120 militancy hit victims and their children have been provided financial assistance since the launch of project in April this year. This was disclosed in a meeting of district officers of Social Welfare, Education, Revenue and police to review the implementation of the project. The meeting was presided over by Secretary Social Welfare. The meeting was informed that the Project Assist sponsored by NFCH is being implemented by Rehabilitation Council. The meeting was further told that the militancy affected children below 18 years of age are being provided financial assistance of Rs 750 in rural areas and Rs 800 in urban areas per month. The Rehabilitation Council is also providing monthly pension of Rs 500 to the widows and old aged persons, marriage assistance of Rs 10,000 to young widows and grown up daughters of militancy victims, the meeting was informed. Handicapped and disabled persons are being provided Rs 500 monthly pension and scholarships for professional studies with a tuition fee of Rs 5,000 and for hostels Rs 7,000 annually. The Council is also provides financial assistance for psychological rehabilitation and other exceptional cases. All the officers were impressed upon to have coordinated effort for identification and submission of complete cases to the concerned quarters in orders to provide relief at an earliest to the militancy hit victims and their families.
