7th season of Pt Uma Dutt Sharma Sangeet Mahotsav organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 28: Nirvana Academy on Sunday organised seventh season musical competition in Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsav at city square Jammu and HOD Fine Arts College Krishan Lal Verma was the chief guest. More than 120 participants from different parts of Jammu region took part in the programme and the motive of the event was to explore hidden talent among the children, youth and budding artists of the state. Participants of Pandit Uma Dutt Sangeet Mahotsav displayed their talent in different age group categories of the competition. While, president of academy Hitesh Badyal said that Nirvana Academy had organized various such programmes earlier also and succeeded in bringing all such type of talented, budding artist under one umbrella. Speaking on the occasion chief guest Krishan Lal Verma threw the light on the life and achievements of Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma. He said that Pandit Uma Dutt was born in April 1900. Pandit ji received his training in tabla and pakhawaj from his Guru Sardar Harnam Singh. Pandit ji spent 10 years under the guidance of Pt. Bade Ram Das ji at Banaras. Pandit ji was one of the few artists from Jammu, who used to give performances in vocal music from Lahore Music station. Pandit Uma Dutt Sharma gave the responsibility of taking the Santoor on the world stage to his son Pandit Shiv kumar Sharma after extensive research on its possibilities. Prominent among others who presented on the occasion were Meenakshi Sharma, Vikas Dogra, Vikul Gupta, Shivam Badyal, Paramjeet Kour, Neha Verma and Nishant Vaid. |
