Brisk polling registered for lower Leh councilor’s seat

Brisk polling was registered in the bi-election of Lower Leh councilor constituency for which elections were held today. With voter strength of 9,140, 13 polling stations were set up to ensure free and fair election.. Skara polling stations was the largest polling station having 1124 voters and the smallest polling station in Housing Colony which has 193 voters.
Out of 9140 voters, 5460 voters have polled their votes representing 60 percent. Out of these 2888 female voters and 2572 were male voters franchised their votes.
Sonam Dorje of Congress (I) and LUTF supported independent candidate Phunchok Wangdan are in the fray for councilor seat for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh.
District Election Authority, M K Dwividi who is also the District Magistrate and the SSP, Leh Alok Kumar and election observer Ghulam Ahmad Khan were supervising the security and the polling machinery for a peaceful and free and fair polling.
The counting will be held on May 28.
