Jammu, Dec 28: Congress leaders and workers celebrated the foundation day of the congress party at headquarter Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, which completed 129 years on Sunday. Vice president Thakur Hari Singh presided over the function which was attended by prominent leaders of the party including functionaries of PCC, DCC, Blocks and frontal wings of the party. On this occasion, the senior leaders of the party threw light on the history of Congress party and contribution and sacrifices for the freedom of the country and achievements towards nation building in the post-independent period. It was on this day in 1885, the Congress was founded and during its 129 years of the service to the nation, the Congress party remained committed to the principles of secularism and socialism and for strengthening the unity and integrity of the nation. While, the Congress leaders and workers pledged to work more dedicatedly to strengthen the party at all levels by adhering to its fundamental principles and policies. Prominent among those who presented on the occasion included Ravinder Sharma, Maheshwar Singh, Shah Mohammad Choudhary, Dr. Rashid Choudhary, Thakur Manmohan Singh, Krishan Lal Gupta, Neeraj Gupta, Rajiv K Gupta, Narinder Gupta, Dr. R.K.
