Modi wave swept away Congress in Jammu: Taj | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Dec 28: Senior Congress leader Taj Mohiuddin , who lost the recent elections from Uri constituency after two consecutive terms, today declared that he is not retiring from politics and had no regrets over his loss. "I am not retiring from politics at all. The reports that suggest that I am bidding farewell to the politics are incorrect. A sincere politician never retires and I will continue my services in whatever capacity I can for the people of the state," Taj told news reporters in Srinagar . Taj who served as the minister both in Congress-PDP coalition and NC-Congress coalition from 2002 said he has done "remarkable work" for his constituency and in terms of development, his constituency Uri is number 1. He maintained that the basic reason for his recent defeat was the anti-incumbency wave in Jammu and Kashmir and that people wanted change in the governance in JK. "It is the human nature that people always believe that there are green pastures on the other side of the fence. Same has happened to the state at present. We have been ruling in Jammu and Kashmir from the more than 12 years. It is the time when people wanted change on ground. It was their will and we all must respect people's verdict," Taj said. He claimed that Congress faced whitewash in Jammu region due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Call it the Modi wave, wave of Hindutva or polarization- it led to Congress's debacle in Jammu. In Valley, there was anti-incumbency factor which proved detrimental for both big and small guns in JK politics." |
