To deepen the roots of democracy in the State a new political party was also launched by some progress political activists under the name of J&K Peoples Republican Party (JKPRP). The main objective of the Party according to its chief spokesperson, Mir Ghulam Rasool was to ensure participation of majority of people in poll process and strengthen democratic institutions in the State which has faced lot of destruction and devastation in last 25 years of turmoil.

He said putting their lives in grave risk PRP leaders travelled across the Valley during campaigning and highlighted the policies and programmes of the Party whose objective was ensure majority participation of people into democratic process.
The Party discharged its responsibility but with the withdrawal of security to them they have been exposed to grave risk. He said the candidates who contested the elections now feel totally dejected after the withdrawal of security to them.
