| Seminar to mark 150 years of war of Independence | | |
Jammu | May 26 Communist Party of India J&K unit today organized a seminar in the auditorium of Polytechnic College here to commemorate the 150th anniversary of India's first war of Indepen¬dence. The seminar was attended by a large gathering and was addressed by host of speakers. The seminar was presided over by Aziz Pasha (MP). In his inaugural address, Kanwal Dev, State Secretary of the party called upon youth, students and common man to understand the role of imperialist powers in the context of present globalization. Amarjeet Singh city secretary welcomed the guests and the audience. Aziz Pasha in his address asked people to emulate the spirit of the Martyrs of 1857 and say no to commu¬nal winds that are presently blowing all over the country.Com. Pasha, threadbare analyzed the present day situation in which global powers are trying to sort out the ideological struggle by force. The seminar was also addressed by Prof. Ram Pal who at length dwelt on the present day scenario and emphasized that the present struggle is the struggle to emancipate the masses patiently the middle and the working class from extreme exploitations and eco¬nomic deprivation. Indian People Theatre Association (IPTA) staged a short play, "Akad, Bakkad Bambai Bo" which highlighted the exploitation in the present setup. Other speakers included N.K. Dogra State President of AITUC, who dwelt on the role of working class in the present charged scenario. Om Parkash and Vimal Manhas high¬lighted the role of youth & Students in the present scenario. Ashwani Pradhan Gen. Secretary Jammu Bank Employees Federation also ad¬dressed the seminar and analyzed the negative / impacts of globalization, he analyzed the economic policies which are being drawn up by imperialist power from whom the country will have to be liberated afresh. Dr. Ghani' Sham Chark of Kissan Sabha & Gafoor Dar, President JKNTUF spoke about the impacts and present day economic policies on Kissan & workers.
