| NCSU rubbishes ABVP’s demand to rename universities | | >>Demands implementation of university calendar on pattern of JNU | |
Jammu | May 26 The National Conference Students Union (NCSU) has demanded the implementation of university calendar in University of Jammu (JU) from the upcoming session. Meanwhile, Vikrant Sharma, General Secretary NCSU has rubbished the demand of ABVP to rename JU after Maharaja Gulab Singh and SKUAST as Bawa Jitto Agricultural University and termed it as a politically motivated move. Addressing a press conference, Sharma said it was laxity on the part of University authorities due to which the annual university calendar couldn’t be implemented despite of the fact that our university is ISO certified. He also appealed Vice Chancellor, though he is presently in Canada, to kindly consider the matter seriously and implement the calendar on the pattern of his parent university, JNU. On asking, whether he will support the demand of ABVP to rename JU after Maharaja Gulab Singh and SKUAST after Bawa Jitto, Sharma rubbished the demand of ABVP leaders and termed the demand as politically motivated one which has nothing to do with students. Taking dig at the decline in academics standard, Sharma criticized university authorities for unnecessarily spending huge sum of money meaningless exercises in campus. Among others also present on the occasion were Tahir Mustafa, General Secretary JU unit, Zulfiqar Ahmed, Mumtaz Ali and Ramit Gupta.
