| Government encourage genuine NGOs: Dr Syeda Hamid | | |
Srinagar, May 27 - Member Planning Commission, Central Government Dr. Syeda Hamid has said that Central government has framed guidelines for providing financial assistance to voluntary organizations working to ameliorate the condition of hither to uncovered weaker section of society. She said such organizations under these guidelines would formulate and implement these projects, which would uplift the standard of the under privileged people. Syeda was addressing voluntary organization meet organized by J K Women's Development Corporation at IMPA here today. Dr Syeda said government will encourage all concerned Central and State Government agencies to introduce pre-service and in-service training modules on constructive relations with voluntary organizations. She said voluntary organization can play a vital role in the development process through community participation adding that voluntary organizations could prove more beneficial for socio-economic development of the people. "It is therefore essential that Government and the voluntary organizations work together to achieve the desired goal", she added. The Government, Dr Syeda said, will also consider tightening administrative and panel procedures to ensure that these incentives are not misused by paper charities for private financial gains. Secretary Social Welfare Jammu and Kashmir government Mr N.K Verma. Director Social Welfare Kashmir Mrs Dilshada Khan were also present besides various heads and representatives of the voluntary organizations of the valley.
