| Improvement in tourism infrastructure sought | | | Jammu | May 27 Jammu Tourists Trade Employees Federation (JTTEF) has demanded creation of necessary infrastructure to places of pilgrimage and tourist spots in Jammu region. “Authorities should take steps to promote pilgrimage to Pingla Mata and Chountra Mata in Ramanagar, Kailash yatra in Bhaderwah and to convert annual Jhiri mela into a tourist destination,” Said Mahesh Padha, president of the federation while addressing the media persons here today. He added that the state government had in the past year advertised to provide training in the tourism sector to the desirous 10+2 pass candidates, in various disciplines like receptionists, catering, house keeping and hotel management. The candidates selected for these courses in Kashmir division have been taking training for the last 8 months but those selected in Jammu are still waiting. He further said that if tourism department can not take up these courses on its own then the government should give this in the private hands. The federation also demanded for opening of Jammu-Sialkot Road for free trade between India and Pakistan and demanded that Vaishno Devi shrine Board should not come in competition with the private hoteliers by constructing lodges for the pilgrims. Others who were presented on this occasion were Aruna Bakshi, Ram Lal Sharma, Balbir Singh and Ramesh Sharma.
