| Natrang stages Andhon Ka Haathi | | |
Jammu | May 27 Shard Joshi's political satire' Andhon Ka Haathi' directed by Balwant Thakur was staged here today at Natrang Studio Theatre. This contemporary political comment has been updated by the director Balwant Thakur to make it more relevant to the local political scenario. The story of the play is based on famous wisdom tale 'The Elephant of Blinds' the play is a hard-hitting satire on politics and politicians. Their casual approach of handling the affairs of the country as of today has been beautifully portrayed in this play. The story revolves around five blinds and an elephant. Sutradhar-the presenter of the play brings an elephant before five blinds and requests them to identify, recognize it, give their own interpretations and also find out the possible threats from him. In that process the blinds catch hold of different parts of the elephant like trunk, ear, leg, tale, and the tummy. Here starts a fight between five blinds over their difference of opinion about the elephant. This conflict symbolizes the fight between different political ideologies and their beliefs. The blinds represent the establishment and their handling of the National Circuital issues. In a highly intellectual and symbolic manner the whole theatrical event draws the true picture of our country, when the narrator of the play tries to expose them. The blinds are shown united against the intellect and finally kill him. The system never wants to be questioned. Anybody dares to do so have to have the narrator's fate. As narrator Pawan Verma performed with confidence and represented ably the intellectual community of this country. The five blinds who appeared in multiple Characters included Dimple Sharma, Deepak Virdhi, Gaurav Triyal, Mohit Sharma, and Kamaljeet Kaur. . The play was assisted by: -Neeraj Kant and lights were designed and executed by Suraj Ganjoo.Describing about the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Natrang, Balwant Thakur informed that group has set a target of organizing 200 programmes to celebrate the 25 years of Natrang.
