| Akal Takht to meet on Dera apology | | | CHANDIGARH, MAY 27 The Akal Takht tonight remained undecided about the apology by the Dera Sacha Sauda head on the alleged sacrilege of Guru Gobind Singh and said its high priests would meet shortly to decide its course of action. "We have not received the document. Moreover the document (containing the apology) is unsigned... The five high priests will take a decision on the Dera's move," Akal Takht head, Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti said here. He said "first, the apology letter must be signed by the Dera head than a meeting of the Sikh clergy will be convened to decide the next course of action." Vedanti was reacting to one-page statement sent to the Akal Takht by the sect's head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh as the deadline set by Sikh clerics to vacate premises owned by the Sirsa-based sect in Punjab ended this evening. Radical organisation Damdami Taksal's head Harnam Singh, who is said to be a relative of slain Khalistan militant Jarnail Singh Bhinderanwale, said the apology would only be acceptable by the Sikhs if the Dera hear personally appeared before the Akal Takht.
