DDC Reasi convenes officers-cum-public meetings at Dharmari, Arnas

To assess the pace of ongoing development works with physical and financial achievements made under various sectors in tehsil Mahore of the Reasi district and to redress the grievances of the general masses of hilly, remote and far-flung areas of Dharmari, Arnas, Mahore and Thakrakote , the District Development Commissioner,(DDC) Reasi, Mr. Sanjeev Verma convened a joint meeting of district level officers of Udhampur, Reasi and tehsil level officers from Mahore-cum-general public of various areas at Dharmari and Arnas yesterday.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Mahore, Mr. Tanveer Malik, Tehsildar Mahore, all district level officers from Udhampur and Reasi alongwith officers posted at Arnas, Dharmari and Mahore participated in the meeting.
During the first ever meeting of the new DDC, Reasi in this hilly and backward area of tehsil Mahore, the DDC inquired from the officers concerned about the pace of ongoing developmental schemes going on at various places of tehsil Mahore. The Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD apprised the DDC that to provide electric power facilities at various places of tehsil Mahore and Gool and Arnas area during 2006-07, 19 stations of 25 KV were set up at Chaklas, Lancha,, Lasoli,, Challad,, Kharga, Mahasal, Gabbar, Chadala, Sildhar,, Shergarhi, Chana Kotli, Balangi, Berh, Kunderdhan, Sukrala, Gundi, Nandoli and Kot Chajru and an amount of Rs.1.05 crores expended under rural electrification and transmission and distribution during the period.
Under Irrigation sector, the work on four khuls viz. Saral khul, Malikote khul, Manjikote khul and Sarh Khul is in speedy progress. Against the allocation of Rs.55.94 lakh for Saral khul, an amount of Rs.29.01 lakh was expended during last financial year and similarly against the allocation of Rs.54.44 lakh an amount of Rs.29.45 lakh was expended on Malikote khul. An amount of Rs.9.64 lakh against the allocation of Rs.31.33 lakh was spent on Manjakote khul and against the allocation of Rs.83.57 lakh, an amount of Rs.17.42 lakh was spent on Sarh khul during the same period and the remaining work on these khuls would be completed during the corresponding year.
Under Education sector 23 school buildings were taken in hand during last year out of which 4 school buildings stands completed and the work on 16 buildings is in progress. 25 class rooms were also taken in hand out of which 12 completed and the work on remaining 13 class rooms is in progress.
To raise the socio economic conditions of the ruralties through fish rearing in the different areas of district Reasi, 2.05 lakh fingerlings were produced and distributed during last year. Presently two fish farms one each at Anji and another at Thanpal are existing in the district and these forms produces seed for further distribution among the locals of Reasi district besides 10 number community ponds and 15 private ponds are also existing in the Reasi district for rearing fish.
Under R&B sector against the estimated cost of Rs.198.60 lakh, an amount of Rs.132.00 lakh was expended on Chasana Sarsote road. An amount of Rs.98 lakh was spent for widening and up gradation of Bagga Gulabgarh road against the estimated cost of Rs.416 lakh during last year. Against the estimated cost of Rs.177.31 lakh for Mahore Sildhar road Rs. 122 lakh expended, similarly against the estimated cost of Rs.856 lakh, an amount of Rs.150 lakh spent for Phalni Tuli road during last year. Dak Banglow building at Sungri has been completed at a cost of Rs.15 lakh.
To provide pre school elementary education to the children below 6 years age, 155 Anganwari centers are functioning in Integrated Child Development Services block Mahore and 100 in ICDS block Arnas. Nutritious diet is also being provided to the children of these Anganwari centers.
While interacting with the largely attended public meetings at Dharmari and Arnas, the DDC said that with the functioning of district Reasi, the people of remote corners of Mahore, gulabgarh and Thakrakote would have an new era of development and the district administration would percolate the benefits of all developmental schemes at the grass root level. He asked the district officers to make frequent visits of all neglected areas and initiate the development process at all the remotest, backward and neglected areas of Reasi district by holding awareness camps regarding all centrally and state sponsored schemes at the grass root level. He stressed for work culture and oriented results. Mr. Verma also asked the general public to fully cooperate with the concerned departments in the implementation of all development schemes and politics may not be involved at any cost in the development process.
The public representatives at both the places put forth various demands, which include sanction of degree college & Dy. CEO office at Dharmari, NES block at Thakrakote, upgradation of PHC Dharmari and Arnas to SDH, work on Throu Budhan road, handing over of Arnas Mahore road to GREF, suitable accommodation for the stay of officers/officials at Dharmari, plying of additional buses on Arnas Mahore road, regular supply of drinking water and power, tehsil status for Arnas, provision of maize seed and fertilizer, inclusion of actual names in the BPL list and shortage of staff in the educational institutions of tehsil Mahore.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured that their all-genuine problems would be redressed in a phased manner. The general public thanked the DDC for his kind visit to their areas for on the spot redressal of their grievances.
Among others public representatives, ex serpanches of Dharmari, Thakrakote, Arnas, Chinkah and other areas with large number of people were present at both the places.
