IT SEEMS COLAITION government has already surrendered the cause of the Refugees by inducting all those in All Party Committee who have turned down refugees’ issues by stressing “Kashmir issue is bigger problems for the state government to resolve than the refugees issues.’ ‘It is just an attempt to bring chickens before the cat,’ some analysts mocked over the committee.
Chief minister has shouldered the responsibility of discussing the refugees’ issue in detail to the eight -member committee comprising Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar, former minister and leader of opposition Abdul Rahim Rathre, Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohd Yaseen, CPI (M) leader M Y Tarigami, Chairman JKNPP Bhim Singh, Ashwani Kumar JSM MLA Bishnah and Jugal Kishore BJP-MLA.
While minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma and chairman JKNPP Bhim Singh being member of coalition will be under some compulsion that their decision would not hinder coalition but the reaction from valley based leadership on ‘refugees’ issue’ is a known fact to all and the mindset of some the committee members namely Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives Abdul Aziz Zargar, former minister and leaders of opposition Abdul Rahim Rathre, Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohd Yaseen, CPI (M) leaders M Y Tarigami cutting across the party lines stood jointly against issues of refugees and alleged it as an attempt to create demographic change in the Jammu region to defend its stand of more seats. Will the junior duo namely Ashwani Kaumr and Jugal Kishore would defend the cause of the Jammuites and refugees or not is the issue that has set a debate in Jammu at all squares?
The Jammuites now are feeling concerned over the committee nomination why was Harsh Dev Singh former Minister left out of this committee who raised this issue even in the assembly. The refugees and the related organizations too are speculative about the outcome as the All Party Committee that has the veteran politicians from valley as constituent members who already had been swords drawn with those who raised the voices of refugees. The differences between valley based parties and Jammu region become apparent when the valley leaders especially those who tried to gag the voice of the refugees describing ‘it will bring a demographic change within the state.’
Now all with their fingers crossed are waiting for the outcome of the deliberations of this high level committee regarding the settling of the issues related to the West Pakistan, PoK, 1965 and 1971 Refugees and other issues.
One of the young Turks included among the house of the political veterans Ashwani Kumar MLA Bishnah talking to The Early Times said that as he has been raising the issue of the Refugees in and out of the assembly, he will continue this with the same spirit in this meet. When asked if he knew result of the battle he is going to fight for, Ashwani said that though he was known to the issues of the refugees of all kinds who suffered forced migration and now settled in Jammu but the various representing organizations too have submitted their memorandum of demands to him that will serve the purpose to him. Expressing heartfelt sympathies to refugees, Asjhwani assured that he will try his best to get justice for the refugees who had been uprooted from their native places by clarifying the misconception related to their issues.
