| Safe return of subedar assa singh | | Family organized prayer meeting ahead of journey to PAK | |
Jammu, May 28, Large number of close relatives and neighbours of Nirmal Kour, wife of Subedar Assa Singh, one of the 54 prisoners of war lodged in different Pakistani jails, today attended special prayer meeting at their residence in Nanak Nagar area where they collectively prayed for the safe return of her husband.
On Tuesday evening Nirmal Kour will be proceeding to New Delhi on her way to Pakistan along wth 12 other families of PoW.She is the only kin out of seven families of PoW from the state whose name has been cleared by the Pak authorities to undetake a visit to Pakistan in search of her husband. Kins of six other PoW Gopal Dass,Jagdish Lal,Kishen Lal,Capt Pars Ram,Kali Das and Madam Mohan are in touch with Nirmal Kour as she has been entrusted with the job of identifying six other prisoners of war from Jammu and Kashmir.
But before undertakeing one of the longest journeys of her life time Nirmal doesnot want to forget her daily routine.Today when a special prayer meet was organsied by her children in their house she stood in the front with folded hands praying and hoping to reunite with her husband after a long gap of 36 years.
"I wanted to seek blessings of God before i undertake my journey to Pakistan in search of my husband. i am also seeking blessings of my relatives and well wishers that when i go to Pakistan i am reunited with my husband",Nirmal Kour said.
The atmosphere in their non-descript house located in Nanak Nagar street is upbeat as all her grandchildren and clsoe relatives are talking about return of Subedar Assa Singh.Even large number of relatives have joined them and praying for early return of Subedar Assa Singh. "Today we are here to join the prayer meeting specially organised by children of subedar Assa Singh , one of the elderly neighbours told visiting team of media men.
" We are desperate to meet our father and praying regularly to give strength to our mother who will only be visiting Pakistan all alone". "We also wanted to accompany her to Pakistan as she is not keeping good health but restrictions imposed by the centre is not permitting us to go there.
"We are constantly seeking blessings of god almighty and for this we had organsied special prayers ahead of visit of our mother to Pakistan starting June 1", Harcharan Singh told mediamen while distributing prasada.
