| Salathia asks party men to get ready for elections | | | Jammu May-28 Giving a clarion call to the party workers to be prepared for the Assembly elections which are likely to be held before the scheduled date in view of the fast developing cracks in the coalition alliance, the senior NC leader and former Minister Surjit Singh Salathia today lambasted the coalition government of its failure in fulfilling the promises made during 2002 Assembly elections. Addressing series of public meetings at Swankha, Kalah and Than in Vijaypur constituency today, Salathia has called upon the office bearers and party workers to fan out in their respective areas and take the NC programs to the grass roots level and also expose the failures of the coalition dispensation. He said that the promises made by the two major ruling alliance partners, Congress and PDP, during the last Assembly elections are yet to be fulfilled, despite completion of nearly five years in office. Making a scathing attack on the ruling alliance, Salathia said that it has totally failed in all fronts and people are suffering for their misdeeds and mismanagement. The sky rocketing prices of essential commodities coupled with unscheduled power cuts have adversely affected the common masses while the promise of providing good governance has fallen flat as the corruption was rampant. Alleging that no development worth the name has been initiated in the Vijaypur constituency, the senior NC leader said the present MLA was only concentrating on few selected packets creating a sense of deprivation and resentment among the general public. Saying that NC is committed for the welfare of the people of the state and has always worked for the cause of the people, Salathia asked the people to strengthen the hands of the party chief to ensure crushing defeat to the ruling alliance in the ensuing assembly elections. Among others who spoke the rally included Mohinder Gupta, Capt Tirath Ram, Babu Balwant Singh, Ganesh Sharma, O P Attri, Bhagwan Singh and Janak Singh.
