| Munshi calls on Relief Commissioner, demands compensation for KP’s | | | Jammu | May 28 National conference leader and Secretary Minority Cell M L Munshi today demanded compensation to the families whose land was occupied by the security forces during these years of turmoil in Kashmir Valley. He said that the government has completely failed to keep its promise for rehabilitating Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. “Despite its high claims, the coalition partners failed to create an atmosphere for the safe return of KP’s’, he said adding the government even could not formulate a comprehensive employment policy for the community youth. He said that the construction of two room sets at so- called safe zones was just wastage of money and would no way benefit the community. He said the hundreds of kanals of land belonging to KP’s were occupied by the security forces and no rent is being paid to them. Munishi who also met Relief Commissioner apprised him about the land related problems being faced by the community. Addressing a meeting at Janipora, Munshi accused PDP and Congress for their false propaganda adding that they are busy in troop reduction controversy while the common man, particularly KPs were suffering. He said that KP’s who left behind every thing including their belongings were the worst victims of turmoil and alleged that those living in camps are in miserable condition and lack even basic facilities like water, lanes and drains.
