Jammu | May 28
The “All J&K Gareeb Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes Morcha through a resolution has reiterated its demand for removal of creamy layer from among the entitlement of reservation benefits available to the Scheduled Castes.
The Morcha in its meeting has discussed the situation arising out of announcement made by UP Chief Minister, Miss Mayawati that necessary steps shall also be taken by her Government. to ensure providing of reservation benefits to the members of upper castes as also to Muslims, who are living below poverty line.
Preeti Devi. Vice President of the All J&K Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Morcha, who chaired the meeting, said that this announcement has vindicated their stand and regretted that BSP Supremo, who claims herself to be messiah of poor an down trodden sections of society has so easily forgotten the plight of the poorest of the poor in the SC category, who continue to suffer unabatedly and ironically whose share of benefit under the reservation policy is being usurped by their own brethren, the so-called creamy layer.
The meeting through another resolution has advised the UP CM to consider removing of creamy layer from the entitlement of the benefit to ensure that the benefis of the reservation policy reaches at grass root level.
The meeting has also urged upon the State government to give a sympathetic consideration to all the demands made by the Morcha from time to time in the past by removing the bottlenecks, which come in the implementation of welfare schemes for the Dalit Samaj.
Prominent among others, who were present included Gharu Ram, Master Sant Ram, KN Malhotra, Neelam Devi and Swarn Devi.
