| ADC flags off study tour of farmers | | | JAMMU, MAY 28 Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Mr. Hemant Sharma today flagged off bus carrying 40 farmers and orchardists of Jammu district for a study tour to Punjab and Uttrakhand. The study tour has been organized by the Horticulture Department, Jammu in order to acquaint the farmers with the latest technology developed by the Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture Science and Technology, Pant Nagar. The study tour is a part of Horticulture Technology Mission Programme for integrated development of Horticulture in Jammu division. Addressing the orchardists, Mr. Sharma emphasized the importance of such study tours and impressed upon the farmers to take maximum benefit from the tour. He also advised them to have interaction with the scientists and fruit growers of Punjab and Uttrakhand for adoption of latest technology. The study tour will help them to adopt the scientific methods in their orchards ultimately boosting the fruit cultivation in the region. Chief Horticulture Officer, Jammu Mr. J. L. Sharma informed that the group of farmers will visit Punjab Agriculture University Ludhiana, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pant Nagar, Uttrakhand and other prominent places of agriculture importance and also will find a opportunity to interact with progressive fruit growers and farmers of these states. The farmers of Jammu district will get an opportunity to learn about the latest technology developed by these premier institutes in the field of horticulture and agriculture.
