| Deputations call on Romesh, demand adequate supply of potable water | | | Jammu, May 29 Various deputations today called on Minister of state for Public Health Engineering, Irrigation and Industries Dr Romesh Chander Sharma in his office chamber in civil Secretariat Jammu. The minister who is in Jammu on the instructions of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, visited different areas of the City and met various deputations. The minister gave patient hearing to the deputationists and assured them that their genuine grievances would be redressed on priority. A deputation from Thana Mandi Rajouri led by Munshi Khan Choudhary called on the minister and apprised him about problem of scarcity of potable water in their area. The deputation also demands construction of Protection Bunds along the banks of River Behrote from Behrote to Dudasan. They apprised the minister that the river Behrote causes huge damage to agriculture fields during flash floods. The minister gave a patient hearing and assured that work on construction of Bunds would be taken up soon. Another deputation led by Kastori Lal President Jammu welfare association met the minister and demanded regular water supply to Jammu city. The deputationists told the minister that old city is facing acute short fall of Portable water and requested for increasing the timing of supply to the area. A deputation of Public sector employees also called on the minister and demanded release of cola due to them. Others deputationists also demanded adequate water supply to their respective areas. The minister assured the deputationists water supply to their areas would be restored at the earliest. Regarding the release of cola to the public sector employees, the minister said that the matter would be taken up with the government. The minister issued on the spot instructions to the engineers to solve the problems being faced by the people and ensure regular water supply. The minister was informed by the engineers that water tankers have been pressed into service to provide drinking water to areas facing deficit.
