| DCC beat SCC by 21 runs | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu August 8 Diamond Cricket Club trounced Shakti Cricket Club by 21 runs convincingly in the ongoing Independence Cup cricket tournament being played at Sarore here today. DCC won the toss and decided to bat first. They accumulated 154/7 in the stipulated 20 overs Vishal played a fine knock of 62 runs comprised of 8 hits to the fence. Arun and Ravi also contributed useful 31 and 22 runs respectively. Rakesh also played a handy knock of 15 runs. For SCC, Neeraj grabbed 3 wickets while Puran and Sagar took 2 wickets a piece. In reply, SCC was bundled out for 133 runs in 17.1 overs. Girish played a fighting knock of 46 runs including 7 hits to the fence. He really played all his shots with commendable authority with superb control over his shots both on the off side as well as the off side. Sameer, Neeraj and puran although also played well for their knocks of 21, 17 and 15 runs respectively. For DCC, Arun bowled exceptionally well to scalp 4 wickets while Kunal and Deepak took 2 wickets each. Arun for his brilliant all round performance was declared the Man of the Match.
