Army assists in extrication of truck

Udhampur, May 30-
By risking their own lives and working dauntlessly, the Army has been able to recover one dead body and stores from the ill fated Tata 408 vehicle carrying loads along with five passengers that collided head-on with a truck on NH 1A near village Simroli, 15 Km. away from here on May 28. The truck had a vertical fall of more than 100 feet before plunging into the river flowing below.
Responding swiftly to the request of the civil administration the 14 EME Bn (Comd) and 10 Engr Regt carried out the rescue and recovery operation as three persons were trapped in the ill fated vehicle.
By risking their own lives and working dauntlessly in the face of odds, the army team succeeded in recovering one body and stores from the ill fated vehicle. The promptness, professionalism and selfless devotion shown by the Army in carrying out rescue and recovery operation have been appreciated by all.
