The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has expressed shock over the loss of ten lives and injuries to over 150 persons of Gujjar community in Rajasthan who were agitating for getting ST status.
Strongly condemning the action on the protestors resulting into loss of precious lives besides injuries to several others, Sharma said that it is unfortunate that those seeking rights under the Constitution are dealt with in ruthless manner.
Sharma further said that BJP had promised in 2003 elections in Rajasthan to recommend grant of ST status to the Gujjars community in the state as the community was availing these benefits in other states of the country, he added.
