| FIRST BATCH GRADUATES FROM ‘SHAKTI SADAN’ | | |
Jammu, 31 May 2007 ‘Shakti Sadan’, a vocational training-cum-women empowerment centre completed training of its first batch today. Amidst parents of the trainees and a modest gathering, Usha Panjikar, President AWWA, CI Force (Uniform) distributed the certificates to the trainees who went through the two months training curriculum. Each trainee was imparted training in two out of the three major disciplines i.e., Tailoring, Knitting and Anganwadi aspects. In addition all students were given training in Candle Making and Food Processing, as optional subject. All the women as they pass out are upbeat and confident as they prepare to get back to their villages. “It is this process of learning and teaching which will help in ultimate empowerment of women in the remotest areas of our State” Usha emphasized. Training of the second batch is scheduled to commence with effect from 01 July 2007, said a PIB (Defence Wing) release.
