| HWA demand implementation of Disabled Act | | | DODA, May 31 An emergent meeting of Jammu and Kashmir Handicapped Welfare Association (HWA) Bhadarwah unit was held here today under the chairmanship of Farooq Ahmed District-President of the Association in which large number of beneficiaries participated. Various problems including implementation Disabled Act 1998 rules, inquiry into the purchase of sub standard motorized tricycles, reservation in government jobs, enhancement in conveyance allowance and implementation of schemes meant for handicapped were discussed threadbare. The meeting decided to take up these issues forcefully with the government so that the benefits of these schemes reach to the handicapped who have been clamoring for these for long. The meeting also urged the Transport Commissioner to initiate action against those violating SRO 488 providing reservation and concession in buses to the physically challenged persons.
