JAMMU, MAY 31 - Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh today granted two days remand to Nazir Ahmed Choudhary who was arrested by the VOJ yesterday for custodial investigation by the VOJ while the VO conducted searches in the houses of accused Nazir Ahmed Choudhary and seized some incriminating documents and bank accounts disproportionate to his known source of income. According to JNF the accused Nazir Ahmed Choudhary AEE PDD was produced in the Court in custody along with case dairy and an application seeking 10 days remand to VOJ custody of the accused in furtherance of investigation of the case. Accused was arrested last evening in connection with FIR NO 14/2007 for offences u/s 5(1) (C) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006 BK. The Special Judge, Anticorruption, Jammu after perusal of the entire record on the CD file and after hearing the accused and the chief prosecuting officer for VOJ, observed that from the perusal of CD file, it appears that the investigation of the case has not yet been completed. The prayer made by the investigating officer for police remand is genuine and remanded the accused to two days custody of the VOJ In the meantime a spokesman of the Vigilance organization said that a teams of VO conducted searches in the residential premises of Nazir Ahmed Choudhary, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) TLC Division 1st PDD, Panama Chowk, Jammu against whom case FIR No. 14/2007 P/S VOJ was registered for possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income. The search continued till late last night during which SVO officials’ detected information about 23 bank accounts and a locker, besides Rs.71000 cash. All the bank accounts and the locker have been frozen pending further investigation. SVO officials have also detected 15 insurance policies on his name and in the name of his family members having a yearly premium of Rs.1.9 lakhs. Tentative estimate of cost of electronic gadgets such as Air Conditioners, Refrigerators etc found in his house have been put over Rs.4.5 lakhs. A Chevrolet Car, a Santro and a Maruti-800 car owned by the official and his wife have been estimated to cost over Rs.10 lakhs. “Maloofa Complex” owned by the official is so huge and spacious that it houses three educational institutions imparting training to teachers in Elementary Education. Further investigation of the case is in progress.
