| Brahman Sabhas welcome Court directions | | | Jammu May 31 Action Committee All Jammu Brahaman Sabhas, which met here today under the Chairmanship of its convener, Inderjeet Khajuria, welcomed the directions given by Ist Additional Munsif (Forest Jammu), to Somnath Sharma, Receiver Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu to produce the record of polling station wise list of enrolled and polled votes, membership along with counter file book, income and expenditure statement and expenditure incurred during the elections of President and other office bearers of Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu. The court also observed that it was learnt that just before the commencement of the elections some electorates were not given membership of the Sabha despite the fact that they were eligible and they had filed affidavits in this regard. These directions came in disposal of the writ petition filed by some aggrieved members of the Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha to the fact that irregularities were committed and the Sabha constitution was violated while holding the election of Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu and for removal of the Receiver, with further direction to appoint fresh Election Commissioner for holding the free and fair elections strictly as per the Constitution of Dogra Brahaman Pratinidhi Sabha Jammu. In the application, it was averred that the commissioner appointed by the court during whose receivership the election got concluded, upset the whole process taken up by the earlier receivers and went ahead with fresh membership drive contrary to the provisions of the constitution of the sabha. He is alleged to have transgressed his powers and misused the Sabha money. It was also stated that since the Receiver has not been relieved by the court, he be directed to make available whole recode pertaining to the elections expenditure incurred during the elections and also the other requisite material for scrutiny of the court. The representatives of the various organizations of the Brahamans including Central Brahaman Sabha, Dehati Brahaman Sabha, Brahaman Kalyan Sabha, Poonchi Brahaman Sabha, Brahaman Manch and Bhagwan Parshuram Dal who attended the meeting hailed the Court decision.
