Charak lays foundation of culvert over Devak nallah

JAMMU, MAY 31
Minister for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak laid foundation of 138.6 meter long multi-barrel box culvert over Devak nallah on Nagrota-Motlian road about 42 kilometre away from here this afternoon. The culvert would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 299 lakh under Asian Development World Bank. The Bhoomi Poojan was also performed by the Minister on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Charak said that on the completion of culvert over Devak nallah, the inhabitants of Samba district and its adjoining areas besides the visiting pilgrims would be benefited. He asked the JKPCC engineers to complete it in double shifts before December 2007 so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He said that the present government is taking keen interest to develop Purmandal and Utterbani as tourists’ interest destinations. He said that there will be no compromise on quality of work and any lapse in this regard will be viewed seriously.
Minister asked the R&B engineers to expedite the construction and upgradation work on all the road projects under execution before ensuing rainy season. He asked the engineers to remain available at their respective stations and personally monitor the ongoing pace of work so as to ensure early completion.
Later, the Minister also inspected the ongoing work of 311 meter span steel plate motorable bridge over Bagh nallah in Hiranagar tehsil. The bridge would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 11.91 crore by JKPCC under State plan.
Responding to the demand of local MLA Mr. Girdhari Lal Chalotra, the Minister sanctioned another installment of Rs. 1.50 crore for construction of Bagh nallah bridge and stressed for completing it in double shifts.
Chief Engineer R&B Mr. M. M Sharma, Managing Director JKPCC Mr. Dalip Thusu, Executive Engineer Mr. Thaseen Mustafa and other senior engineers of JKPCC and R&B were also present.
