| CAPD squad inspects hotels in city | | | JAMMU, MAY 31 Pursuant to the instructions of Minister for CAPD Mr Taj Mohi-ud-Din regarding checking of the prices of essential commodities in the markets and to ensure that the consumers are not being over-charged, a special squad of the CAPD Department comprising of Enforcement Officers of the Department, headed by Assistant Director CAPD inspected the leading hotels and restaurants of residency road area as well as dhabas/karyana shops/goldsmiths of Peer Mitha, Lakhdatta Bazar and Mutton sellers of Talab Khatikan and Shaheedi Chowk areas of Jammu during this week. During inspection, the team checked more than 65 hotels/dhabas and other establishments of the area, out of which 27 defaulters were challaned found using domestic LPG gas cylinders instead of commercial ones and also violating the Price Display Control Order as well as Mutton Control Order 1973. A fine of Rs.12,600 on the spot was realized from them so booked by the department. The traders have been asked to desist from using domestic LPG gas cylinders at their business establishments as well as display the price-lists of commodities at the conspicuous place of their business premises to obviate the further legal action. Besides, the mutton sellers were also advised to obtain the licenses under Mutton Control Order 1973 from the CAPD Department at the earliest.
