| Allegedly misappropriated funds | | Crime Branch registers case against Dadheechi Builders | | JAMMU AUG-9 Crime Branch Jammu has registered a case against M/S Dadheechi Builders Private Ltd for fraudulently misappropriating funds of a Bank for their personal gains thereby causing a wrongful loss to the Bank. The cases were registered against Kewal Krishen son of Jameet Rai and Dadheechi Mahajan son of Kewal Krishan Chairman and Directors. Giving details of the case, SSP crime and Railways Sunil Sharma, said here today that a written complaint was lodged by B B Rattan Pal, Senior Manager United Commercial Bank Branch Ashoka Market Raghunath Bazar Jammu saying therein that in terms of resolution drawn by the Directors of M/S Dadheechi Builders Private Ltd on May 27,2000 ,the accused No 1 being the Chairman of the above said company approached the Bank for seeking over draft facility of a sum of Rs.6 lakh against the security of Unit Trust of India certificate known as monthly income plan 1996 of UTI bearing NO 400971690094601 valuing at Rs.9,90,900 held in the name of company M/S Dadheechi Private Ltd . The SSP said that after depositing the UTI certificate by the above named person with the bank the over draft facility was sanctioned after executing hundies and undertook that he will on demand repay the entire amount of the facility availed along with interest to the bank and shall route all transactions through the aforesaid bank and will also liquidate the balance outstanding with the bank out of the proceeds of the certificates on being matured . Sharma said that the above named persons accepted the contents of the documents agreeing that in the event of any violation being committed to the conditions of the documents granting facility of limit, they personally, and in the capacity of Directors of the Company, shall be liable for any legal action, the bank may take. He said the party concealed the facts and approached the competent authority of the UTI being the issuing authority of the certificate of the units and called for the release of its value and managed its release. The UTI released the matured value of the units in their favour through the medium of 40 cheques of the value of Rs.25,000 each which were drawn on Central Bank of India Janpath New Delhi and cheques received by the accused were en-cashed by them through their Bank SBI Kalu Chak Jammu The SSP said that the alleged accused with an intention to deceive the bank did not intimate the issuing authority that the facility of over draft limit has been obtained against the security certificates and thus played a fraud and misappropriated the funds of the bank for their persons gains causing wrongful loss to the bank. The investigation in the case is going on, the SSP added.
