| 17500 fruit plants of various species planted | | |
Kargil | June 1 To promote horticulture activities according to the latest technique in the district, 70, hectares of area were covered under Technology Mission Scheme. As many as 17500 fruit plants of various species were planted covering 98 beneficiaries during the last financial. In addition 37 numbers of green houses have got erected covering 2000 Square metres area with 10.20 Kgs of UV film free of cost to the beneficiaries under protested cultivation programme. This information was given in a meeting of Horticulture Officers held here today. Kachoo, Gulzar Hussain Khan, the Executive Councilor Agriculture and Horticulture, LAHDC, Kargil was in the chair. In the meeting, while giving a brief resume of the activities of Horticulture department, The chief Horticulture Officer. C.L. Raina said that three training camps was organized were technical training was given to the farmers in terms of post harvest management of apricot fruit and preservation techniques of vegetables and fruits. Besides demonstration regarding preservation of sea buckthorn was given in Zangla and sani villages of Zanskar. It was also revealed in the meeting that during the 2006, an awareness camp was organized at Latoo village where more than 30.
