‘ICDS Project a boon for pregnant, nursing mothers’

JAMMU, June 01
Under Centrally sponsored Integrated Child Development Programme(ICDS), as many as 5612 children, 1494 pregnant and nursing mothers and 1761 adolescent girls are presently availing the benefits of health and nutritional needs through 249 Anganwadi Centres working under Vijaypur project of Jammu district.
In the recently concluded fiscal, three camps of 6-day duration and one Vocational Training Camp for two-month long duration were organized for 110 adolescent girls in Vijaypur block. In coordination with Women Study centre of Jammu University and Food and Nutrition Wing of Government of India, six Women Camps for the benefit of 600 rural women were also organized to promote the concepts of Women Empowerment, nutrition and overall health status of women and children in the Vijaypur project.
To create awareness about various deadly diseases like Aids, Dengue, Chicken flu, water borne diseases, three camps, in coordination with Primary Health Centre, Ramgarh, were organized in which experts/doctors explained in depth prevention from deadly diseases.
