Governor meets Modi to discuss flood relief meaures 2/1/2015 12:04:22 AM Agencies NEW DELHI, Jan 31: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him about the relief and rehabilitation progress going on in the state in the aftermath of massive floods last September. The meeting lasted for nearly 30 minutes during which the Governor gave a detailed overview about the pace of rehabilitation of people who had lost their homes in the September 2014 floods, official sources said. He briefed him about the talks he had with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley last evening and thanked the Prime Minister for continuous support to help the state overcome the financial crisis. Vohra also gave a detailed presentation about the present security situation in the state which has come under the Governor's rule following a highly-fractured mandate in December Assembly elections. The Centre had granted a Rs 1122.56 crore to the state to meet the immediate financial crisis arising out of heavy expenditure for providing relief to the people affected by last year's flood. Out of this, Rs 1102.56 crore have been sanctioned from the National Disaster Response Fund to meet expenditures incurred by the state government for immediate restoration of public infrastructure devastated by the floods.
