| Rs 12 cr road projects submitted to Centre : Jamwal | | Creation of new districts will not hamper dev process | |
SAMBA, JUNE 03 The government has submitted an ambitious plan of nine road projects involving an amount of Rs.12.22 crore to the centre for upgrading road connectivity in the newly carved out district of Samba in Jammu division. Giving details of the plan at the development review meeting, the District Development Commissioner Samba B S Jamwal said the step is aimed at promoting the communication facilities in the area dominated by industrial estates. During the meeting, the DDC was informed that under health sector, Rs.2 crore are proposed to be spent on infrastructural development of existing health institutions in Samba district. It was also revealed that sub district hospital Samba is being equipped with an additional block worth Rs.2.56 crore, of which Rs.1.40 crore have been expended so far. An amount of Rs.3.05 crore is also being incurred on infrastructural development of CHC Ramgarh. Regarding education setup in the newly created district, various issues were deliberated upon, to bring in a discernible change in the existing system, including infrastructural development, SSA, Mid-Day Meal, scholarships, staff shortage, promotion of sports and other co-curricular activities. The DDC asked the teaching fraternity to uphold the sanctity of this noble profession by imparting quality education to the students besides inculcating in them high moral values. He also exhorted upon the higher education authorities to conduct frequent visits to the schools especially situated in far-flung and rural areas to improve education standards there. He asked all the departments to ensure that no area of the district should be left while implementing development programmes. Besides, he also sought innovative suggestions from the officers to remove flaws in the existing administrative units in the district. The meeting was told that under Irrigation, 33 schemes were taken up last year, of which three schemes are complete while the work is being executed on rest of the schemes. Likewise, under employment, 100 cases have been proposed to be sponsored this year under J&K Self Employment loaning.
