| West Pak refugees urge PDP leadership to soften its stand | | | Jammu, June Ahead of second round of a high level committee meeting constituted by the Chief Minister GhulamNabi Azad to address the issue of West Pakistani and POK refugees, the leaders of West Pakistani Refugee Action Committee on Sunday made a fervent appeal to the mainstream political parties to genuinely address their concerns as time is fast running out. The appeal was made by the President of the Action Committee Labha Ram Gandhi in the presence of large number of refugees gathered here on the occasion of monthly meeting to discuss their problems and press their demand "The National Conference leadership after adopting tough posture in the first meeting has now softened its stand on the issue and now we appeal to the PDP leadership to come forward and take holistic view of our genuine problems and join parleys in finding workable arrangement satisfying our concerns", Labha Ram Gandhi said here today. Giving details of the deliberations of today’s meeting, Gandhi said that despite getting piece of land as part of the compensation package we are not getting permanent holding rights in the absence of Permanent resident certificate. "Its is ironical we are still treated as refugees in India and deprived of our rights as our fourth generation is facing problems ".Our children cannot get government jobs neither they can appear in professional entrance examination thus they are deprived of getting employment in state sector jobs. He said we are awaiting outcome of the June 4 meeting in Srinagar after which we will chalk out our future course of action.
