GDC Billawar celebrates annual day 2/2/2015 11:22:20 PM Early Times Report Billawar, Feb 2: Government Degree College Billawar today celebrated Annual Day cum Prize distribution function in a grand manner here at college campus. According to press release, Professor Nirmal Singh was the chief guest and Jeevan Lal was the guest of honor. The function began with lighting of the lamp by the chief guest, guest of honour and principal of the college. All the dignitaries were given a warm welcome and were honoured by presenting bouquets and shawls of local make. On the occasion various cultural activities like Dogri Dance, Patriotic Dance, Rajasthani Dance, Gidda, Semi-Classical, Bhangra were performed by the students. Rajasthani Dance was adjudged the best performance of the event by jury comprising Mamta Singh, Dr Ram Lal Upadhaya (Ex. UN Advisor) and Ravinder Mansotra. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nirmal Singh MLA Billawar congratulated the college for organizing such a wonderful Annual Day cum Prize distribution function and assured all his help for the further development of the college in the form of infrastructural and academic excellence. He also emphasized on the urgent need to stream line the education department which has been in mess for the last decade in the state and urged to bring major attention for the implementation of transparent transfer policy. Dr. Nirmal Singh also released the maiden College Newsletter "Bhini". Later the meritorious students including those who have excelled in the field of sports, art and culture were felicitated by presenting mementos and certificates.
