Locals from Barwal, Kalaspur call on XEn PHE | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Feb 2 : Delegations of people hailing from village Barwal and Kalaspur called on respective Executive Engineers PHE ( Civil wing) today called on Executive Engineer Mechanical and Civil wings of PHE department and apprised him about the scarcity of drinking water for few days in village Barwal while Kalaspur local alleged PHE department has failed to restore water supply since six months. The delegation led by Parshotam Singh Ex Sarpanch Barwal accompanied with dozens of villagers appraised the concerned official acute scarcity of potable water forcing people to be dependent on traditional water resources. He alleged that Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to set up sub-standard equipments for supplying drinking water to people. Parshotam also alleged that inoperative equipments are being sent to private mechanical units at Bishnah and Gangyal, Jammu for repairs where they get repaired partially by the half trained mechanics reasons better known to concerned officials. Speakers said Locals in Barwal are facing shortage for the last 4-5 days but no action has been taken to repair the pumps at water reservoir causing locals to fume against PHE department. Locals even threatened to hold protest at large scale and to block National Highway if concerned department fails to restore water supply. Rajiv Gupta, X En (Mechanical wing), said that process of repairing faulty machines takes at least 10 days and the equipments including busters of village Barwal have been sent for repairs and after their installation the drinking water supply will be regularized . Meanwhile a deputation from village Kalaspur under the leadership of Sudesh Kumar called on Executive Engineer PHE (Civil) to register their resentment against PHE department for failing to restore drinking water supply for the last six months. Suresh Kumar alleged that PHE has neglected the miseries of the villagers. When contacted to Mohd Taj, Executive Engineer PHE (Civil) said PHE department has informed to PDD foe early repair that would be reinstall soon and as water supply is dependent on power supply so the supply got affected. He added that PHE Deptt will restore drinking water supply immediately after reinstall of repaired electrical transformer by PDD. |
