Madhav reaches Jammu to ensure win of BJP candidates in RS polls | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2: Ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls, BJP has intensified its efforts to win both the seats with PDP support and a few like minded independent legislators. In this connection, BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav arrived here in Jammu to take stock of the party strategy. Before his arrival MoS, PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh had chaired a meeting of BJP core group a few days ago to chalk out a fool-proof strategy to ensure victory of Chander Mohan Sharma. According to inside reports, Ram Madhav is expected to hold talks with the PDP leadership to fine tune the floor management on the crucial day of polling. Stakes are too high for all the political parties in the fray. Ghulam Nabi Azad is fighting the most crucial battle of his career after losing the Lok Sabha polls. If he fails to win the seat he would be facing tough times ahead and his stature in the national politics would diminish. On the other hand if BJP loses one seat it would strain relations between the PDP and BJP even before forging an alliance. BJP is relying on the good offices of PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed to win the support of Kashmir based independents and if it happens Azad would be facing an uphil task to win the Rajya Sabha seat. For National Conference the outcome of the Rajya Sabha polls hold no significance as its candidates are not in a position to win the seat. |
