WB holds meeting with State, deliberates upon rebuilding infrastructure | Post floods: | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 2: The representatives of the State Government and the World Bank team today held a meeting in which detailed discussions were held on financial support needed for rebuilding the damaged infrastructure and rehabilitation of the people besides efforts to revive the business community which suffered on account of the recent floods. The State Government team was headed by Principal Secretary Planning and Development, B R Sharma and the World Bank was led by Saurabh Dani stated an official spokesperson. At the onset Principal Secretary Finance, B B Vyas after welcoming the World Bank team informed that the State Government is looking forward to the support and assistance from the World Bank to rebuild damaged public and private infrastructure and for rehabilitation of flood affected families. During the proceedings Principal Secretary, Planning and Development, B R Sharma assured the World Bank team that full assistance will be provided by the State Government to the team in their preparation and finalizing the report. He also conveyed his gratitude to the team for visiting the State and expected that the visit of the team shall be fruitful and will pave way for rebuilding of public and private infrastructure and for revival of the economy. On the occasion, Commissioner Secretary Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Vinod Kaul gave a detailed presentation with regard to September 2014 floods. The World Bank team was informed that around 2.54 lakh private structures were damaged during the floods, while as damage to the public infrastructure has been estimated to be more than Rs.6500 crore. |
